September 12, 2021: National Lok Adalat was organized by the Haryana State Legal Services Authority under the guidance of Hon’ble Justice Rajan Gupta, Punjab & Haryana High court and Executive Chairman of Haryana State Legal Services Authority across the State of Haryana. Haryana State Legal Services Authority has approved the schedule for organizing National Lok Adalat during the year 2021. The Member Secretary of National Legal Authority, New Delhi, vide letter no. L/34/2018/NALSA dated on January 21, 2021 has informed the authority.
On September 11, 2021, Punjab and Haryana High Court held the E-National Lok Adalat and disposed 255 cases. According to the spokesman, 665 cases were dealt with and it constituted 10 benches of the High Court, out of which 225 cases were disposed of. E-Adalat may even continue in the post-pandemic period such as the upcoming bi-monthly Lok Adalat, they may be organized through the virtual mode if physical hearing is not possible.
In another sector, 15 benches were headed by serving Judicial Officers and 7,515 cases were disposed of in the New District Courts Complex. An amount involving of Rs.29,020,770, this included 21 criminal compoundable cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, involving an amount of Rs 8,20,80,467;five cases of bank recovery, involving amount of Rs 16,94,490 and 32 motor accident claim cases involving an amount of Rs 2,90,55,500.
The Lok Adalat which was held in Mohali, was organized both in physical and virtual modes. People were also informed about the toll free number 1968 for any kind of legal assistance.
